The Bionic Avenger Team

Introducing: The Bionic Avenger team – a squad of S.T.R.I.K.E.'s most powerful mechanized heroes. This new Tech team will reach their full potential in Raids with tons of damage and sustain, plus more bonus ability energy than you can shake an Arc Reactor at. The Bionic Avengers will also be one of the required teams on Nodes 5 and 10 for Difficulty 5+ of the future Death Scourge Event!


Leading the Bionic Avengers are the Legendary Iron Man and S.T.R.I.K.E. veteran Vision, both of whom will be getting upgrades, which are detailed below. Today, we are taking a closer look at the first of three new characters for the Bionic Avengers - the SMASHing new Protector: Hulkbuster.


Hulkbuster

Tony Stark created the Hulkbuster suit, designed with input from Bruce Banner, for emergency situations if/when Hulk becomes uncontrollable and needs to be subdued. The suit is a heavy-duty exoskeleton add-on for Stark's numerous Iron Man suits, designed to match the incredible superhuman strength of Hulk. Though the suit has gone through many iterations, the Hulkbuster's arsenal has included wrist-mounted repulsor beams capable of pinning Hulk for short durations, hydraulic rams on both arms to increase punching power, and a shrapnel missile of Adamantium nanoparticles which can pierce and burrow into Hulk's skin. The suit is designed for extreme impact damage and can even make repairs mid-battle. The Hulkbuster suit was made to engage Hulk, but Iron Man has also utilized the suit against powerful opponents such as Ultron and Sentry. Tony Stark, at times, has worn the suit in combat, and at other times, he has controlled it remotely.


Hulkbuster lands on the Bionic Avengers as a Protector with high Health and Armor (surprising, right?) that aids his ability to mitigate enemy fire. On top of taking the enemy's hardest punch, Hulkbuster also gives out a great deal of Barrier to his Bionic Avenger allies to help their personal sustain. Additionally, this mech-monster enjoys a special Synergy with Iron Man where Hulkbuster will gain Taunt when an allied Iron Man drops below 50% Health.


Traits: Hero, Global, Tech, Protector, Bionic Avenger

Basic - Rocket Fist

  • Attack primary target for 300% damage.
  • In RAIDS, Barrier self and all allies for 5% of this character's Max Health.
  • If this character has 25% or more Barrier, gain Defense Up for 2 turns.
  • If this character has 50% or more Barrier, gain 2 Deflect.
  • Gain an Assist from a random Iron Man ally.


Special - Piston Slam

  • Energy Cost: 4/4
  • Attack primary and adjacent targets for 400% damage + apply Offense Down for 2 turns.
  • In RAIDS, clear all negative effects from self.
  • Gain Taunt for 2 turns.
  • Barrier self and all allies for 20% of this character's Max Health.
  • Generate 1 Ability Energy for 2 random BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • In RAIDS, generate 1 Ability Energy for all BIONIC AVENGER allies instead.


Ultimate - Buster Barrage

  • Energy Cost: 6/6
  • Attack all enemies for 360% damage + apply Slow for 2 turns.
  • Barrier self and all allies for 15% of this character's Max Health.
  • Barrier self and all BIONIC AVENGER allies for an additional 15% of his character's Max Health.
  • In RAIDS: Generate 1 Ability Energy for all adjacent BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • In RAIDS: Apply Speed Up to self and all BIONIC AVENGER allies for 2 turns.
  • If this character has 3 or more BIONIC AVENGER allies, this attack is unavoidable


Passive - Built Like Iron

  • When this character or a BIONIC AVENGER ally gains Ability Energy, fill Speed Bar by 5% for this character.
  • When an Iron Man ally drops below 50% Max Health, gain +1 Taunt, up to a maximum of 3.
  • When this character drops below 50% Max Health, if this character has Taunt, clear Taunt from this character and apply Offense Down for 2 turns to all enemies.
  • In RAIDS, On Spawn: Barrier self for 30% of this character's Max Health.
  • In RAIDS, On Spawn: Barrier BIONIC AVENGER allies for 30% of his character's Max Health.
  • Gain +50% Max Health.
  • BIONIC AVENGER allies gain +25% Max Health.
  • In RAIDS, BIONIC AVENGER allies gain an additional +25% Max Health.


Iron Man Updates

Base stat Increases

  • Health +56%
  • Damage +29%
  • Focus +93%
  • Resist +47%


Basic - Repulsor Blast

Old:

  • Attack primary target for 280% damage. 30% chance to Chain to up to 2 adjacent targets for 230% damage.
  • Counterattack breaks this Chain.

New:

  • Attack primary target for 280% damage + apply Defense Down.
  • Chain to 2 adjacent targets for 230% damage + apply Defense Down.
  • Gain an Assist from a random Hulkbuster ally.
  • Counterattack does not break this Chain.


Special - Rocket Barrage

Old:

  • Attack all enemies for 210% damage. If Captain America is your ally, attack all enemies for 300% damage instead.
  • This attack is unavoidable.


New:

  • Attack all enemies for 300% damage + prolong the duration of all negative effects by 1 on each target.  
  • In RAIDS, generate 1 Ability Energy for adjacent BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • This attack is unavoidable.


Developer note: If Captain America is on the team, Iron Man will fire his blast onto Captain America’s shield for a different visual effect. The damage remains the same.


Ultimate - Unibeam

Old:

  • Attack primary target for 600% damage.


New:

  • Attack primary target for 700% damage.
  • Generate 1 Ability Energy for 2 random BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • In RAIDS, generate 1 Ability Energy for self and all BIONIC AVENGER allies instead.
  • If this character has 3 or more BIONIC AVENGER allies, this attack cannot be blocked or dodged.


Passive - Stark Upgrades

Old:

  • Gain +15% Extra Crit chance. Apply +15% Extra Crit chance to TECH allies. Apply +10% Extra Crit chance to all allies. Gain +5% Damage for each POWER ARMOR or WAVE I - AVENGER ally.


New:

  • Gain +5% Damage for each BIONIC AVENGER, POWER ARMOR, or WAVE I - AVENGER ally.
  • Gain +25% Crit Chance.
  • Allies gain +10% Crit Chance.
  • TECH allies gain an additional +5% Crit Chance.
  • BIONIC AVENGER allies gain an additional +5% Crit Chance.
  • Gain +40% Crit Damage.
  • BIONIC AVENGER allies gain +20% Crit Damage.
  • In RAIDS:
  • > Gain an additional +15% Crit Chance
  • > BIONIC AVENGER allies gain an additional +20% Crit Chance
  • > BIONIC AVENGER allies gain an additional +20% Crit Damage


Vision Updates

Base Stat Increases

  • Health +48%
  • Damage +43%
  • Armor +30%
  • Focus +38%
  • Resist +167%


Basic - Heavy Hitter

Old:

  • Attack primary target for 260% damage + Chain to up to 2 additional targets for 220% damage. Apply Offense Down to each target + apply Bleed against each TECH enemy.
  • Counterattack breaks this Chain.

New:

  • Attack primary target for 260% damage + Chain to 2 adjacent targets for 230% damage. Apply Offense Down to each target + apply Bleed to each TECH target.
  • Counterattack breaks this Chain.
  • Gain an Assist from a random Viv Vision ally.


Special - Dive Bomb

Old:

  • Attack primary target for 230% damage + adjacent targets for 160% damage. Apply Ability Block to primary target + 1 additional target.

New:

  • Attack primary target for 230% damage and adjacent targets for 160% damage.
  • Apply Ability Block to primary target and 1 adjacent target. If the primary target is TECH, apply Ability Block for 2 turns to that character.
  • Generate 1 Ability Energy for a random BIONIC AVENGER ally that was not at full energy on start of the current turn.
  • Generate 1 Ability Energy for a random Viv Vision ally.


Ultimate - Solar Beam

Old:

  • Attack all targets for 250% damage + clear 2 positive effects on each target.
  • If Scarlet Witch is your ally, apply Bleed to each target in addition.

New:

  • Attack all enemies for 300% damage, clear 2 positive effects, and apply Bleed.
  • In RAIDS:
  • > Reduce Speed Bar by 30% for all enemies.
  • > Generate 1 Ability Energy for all adjacent BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • If this character has 3 or more BIONIC AVENGER allies, this attack is unavoidable.


Passive - Density Manipulation

Old:

  • Gain +25% Extra Dodge chance. Gain Defense Up for 2 turns. On Spawn, all TECH allies gain Defense Up for 2 turns.


New:

  • On Spawn:
  • > Gain Defense Up for 2 turns.
  • > Apply Defense Up for 2 turns to all TECH allies.
  • > In RAIDS, apply Immunity for 2 turns to self and all BIONIC AVENGER allies.
  • When an ally Viv Vision drops below 50% Health, apply Deathproof to that character.
  • On ally Viv Vision Ability Block, clear all negative effects on that character.
  • Gain 25% Dodge chance.
  • Gain 50% Focus. BIONIC AVENGER allies gain 25% Focus.
  • In RAIDS, BIONIC AVENGER allies gain an additional 25% Focus.
